Who Is God? ( Home )
GOD LOVES YOU! Yes, you! Thinking that God couldn't possibly love you? He does! Even when all of the world spits on you and kicks you in the teeth, God still loves you!
If you have any questions please feel free to email Vernon.
Why does God allow suffering?
Choice, free will, all the best relationships are optional.
If God's in control of everything why do bad things happen?
When God made us he gave us freewill - he didn't want lots of puppets but gave us the dignity of being able to choose right and wrong: whether to obey Him or not. When man chose to disobey God, sin came into the world and damaged it; people chose to do things which harmed others and bad things began to happen. At this point God could have chosen to wipe out man and start again, but because of His love for us he gave us a second chance by sending His son Jesus (who is perfect) to die in our place. Anyone who believes in Him will end up living for ever with Him.
Perhaps the question should instead be "Why does God let so many good things still happen in the world when we messed it up so badly?"
How can God care about me?
He's really, really big and infinitely loving.
How do i hear from God?
This is a big question to try and answer in a small place. God is always talking to us but we don't always find it easy to listen to Him, often because we don't know how. The first place to start hearing from God is the Bible, which is also called His word (Jn 1:1) - or to put it another way, the Bible is him speaking to us. By reading the Bible we get to know God and what he's like, which makes it easier for us to recognise when he speaks to us in other ways. Prayer is another way God talks to us and we can talk to Him; prayer is basically a conversation with God. He may inspire you with a thought that you may not have had by yourself. He sometimes speaks through dreams, occasionally in an audible voice and at other times through something you are doing - for example, God talked to me once when i was turning over a new page in a diary i keep, and reminded me that each time we do something wrong and ask for forgiveness it's like God turning a new page for us and letting us start afresh. If you're not sure if God is speaking to you or not, there are a couple of things you can do:
1) check that whatever you think He's saying to you agrees with what He says in the Bible,
2) ask Him to confirm what you think He has said. It could be a good idea to ask a wise Christian to help you.
A good book on the subject is "Surprised by the voice of God" by John Deere.
How can God be with everyone?
Omnipresence, personal presence.
How much did Jesus weigh at birth?
We have to admit we don't actually know the answer to this one. However there's lots of other information about Jesus in the Bible, so if you want to find out more about Him then give it a go. Try one of the gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke or John) to start.
Do all roads lead to God?
No, the A511 takes you to Coalville or Burton. Truth leads to God, but not every part of every relegion is true.
What does you tummy button do?
You might want to check this out with a biology teacher. The whole process of growth and birth is so clever and so intricate that, for me, it just confirms there has to be a God to have designed it all; I can't see how it could have just evolved without anyone guiding the process.
Am I a Christian if I don't go to church?
Am I a footballer if I am not in a team?
Why are there so many churches?
Because there are many different people, 1 church many churches.
If God is control why do third world countries have famine?
God has provided more than enough resources for everyone to have plenty to eat. God has given us freewill and it's up to us how we use the resources he has provided us. People are often greedy, wanting more and more for themselves, not only not sharing with those who have less but taking advantage of them as well. There are things you can do to help. Any of us who have any money, whether it is a few pounds pocket money or a large salary, have power. There are products becoming increasingly available that are fairly traded - ie. the worker in the third world country is paid a fair wage for what they produce and is treated fairly in the workplace. Any such items have a symbol* on them to identify them - there are quite a few chocolate bars around now as well as other food stuff and clothes. You could also write to your local shop asking them to stock fairly traded goods.
If we're made in God's image which race is God most like?
The Human race!
