SK8ERS

It's been a busy and hectic last term, and now we're back and settled in our second, we can definitely see some notable changes amongst the young people we work with. One huge difference I've seen is at SK8ERS drop in club, where the youth are challenging, but full of character and energy!! We saw this difference put into play when some of the youth found an elderly gentleman collapsed outside. They really stepped up to the mark, and did everything they could to help and offered so much. The gentleman was taken to hospital, and while we were waiting for the ambulance, they made sure they were out of the way, and let us help this man. I'm proud of the way they've started to notice the need for responsibility, and the way are becoming accountable for each others behaviour, and because of this, I am honoured to work with the young people at SK8ERS.

AYFC Worship Night

On Saturday 24th January, Ashby Youth for Christ held an evening full of worship to give thanks to God for blessing us with the amazing opportunity to work in Ashby, for the past 20-30 years.
The evening included an insight into the work of AYFC. Emma and ourselves were given a 2 minute slot each, to give a brief glimpse of what had touched us over the past couple of months. Kathryn held mini interviews with previous AYFC volunteers Kelly Hickey and Richard Onions (who is now a trustee). The new AYFC DVD produced by previous AYFC staff member Matt Orme, was premiered. The DVD gave those who attended a small view of what our work entails.
We had a great turn out with approximately 100 attending. We were blessed and would like to thank the Northern Light worship band for their input on the evening. We'd also like to thank Tim Phillips and Holy Trinity Church for allowing us to hold the evening there.
Last but very much not least, we would like to thank everyone for their support and ask you to continue to support us as we continue to carry out God's work in Ashby and its surrounding area.

AYFC Christmas Quiz

At last I can announce that Mrs Doreen Gasson won the Fair-trade Hamper by answering the most questions correctly in our Christmas Quiz. We had a wonderful response to our quiz and raised over £150! For all of you who are still wondering what all the answers were, they can be found on our web-site, www.ayfc.co.uk. Many thanks to Kathryn who devised the quiz and kept us all busy thinking!
