Ashby Youth for Christ work with young people of all ages in Ashby and the surrounding area through churches, clubs, schools, detached work and mentoring.

Ruth & the new AYFC Kneeler

ASHBY YOUTH FOR CHRIST KNEELER

At Holy Rood Church in Packington, the kneelers in the pews are tapestry ones depicting aspects of Parish life in Packington. They have been made by people in the Parish over the last few years. We are delighted to say that there is now an Ashby Youth for Christ kneeler! It was made by Ruth Morris, one of the congregation of Holy Rood Church, and depicts our logo. It looks great and it is a real encouragement to us all that she thought to do it, so we want to extend our thanks to Ruth for all her hard work.

Shoeboxes greatfully received!

SHOEBOXES

For the last couple of years, Ashby Youth for Christ has collected Christmas shoeboxes to be sent out to Moldova with Link Romania. It is something that we like to do because of our links with Moldova YFC. I act as an area collector and with the help of many wonderful people from local churches and schools we collected about 150 boxes. I would like to thank everyone who filled a box, they were picked up by Link Romania in November and by now will putting a smile on the faces of all who receive them.

One Term down, two to go…

I've now been working as a youth worker for AYFC for one term- and what an amazing term it's been!! The term's got busier and busier, but the work's got even more enjoyable and exciting! It's been a huge culture shock from being in full-time education to full-time work, but I love it! I've seen some amazing changes in the drop in clubs and the work at Ivanhoe, and also just in Ashby itself. One thing that's really blessed me is the relationships I've built up. I'm beginning to see what my strengths are and am putting them into practise in the new projects that I'm doing with creative worship and dance. I never anticipated this is what I'd be doing and the support I'd have! Bring on the next two!

If you are interested in any issues relating to prison work, and Glen Parva in particular, please come along to the Glen Parva prayer group on Monday January 5^th at 3, Alton Way, 6pm.

PRAYER REQUESTS

Please continue to pray for our youth workers. We work them very hard and they often work long hours. Please pray that they will keep healthy and take the rest they need
