About ten years ago AYFC was approached by Project Serve of Youth For Christ Europe. We were asked if we would consider supporting YFC's work in Moldova. We visited Moldova, met Moldova YFC and witnessed their superb work. Since then, we have supported their work by sending staff on building projects and on long term placements and latterly with financial and moral support. This support has largely been the work of some of the youngest people of Ashby Youth for Christ.

Recently we gave some memebers of Optional Extra for year 7 (OE7) an opportunity to write to Harald of Moldova YFC. Through Crackerteria IE7 had help provide him and his team with financial support. This letter allowed them to offer encouragement. Here is one of the letters:

Dear Harald,
  We think that what you are doing in Moldova is amaisingly kind, and you set an amaising exgsample to all of us, you have enspired us a lot and we look up to you. Please carry on with what you are doing, because without you people die, you are the best.

Thanks for the letters of encouragement by your kids!!! Always great to read them!. Last Christmas these same Ashby young people raised enough money to keep one of MYFC's street kids' centers open for 3 months by running a cafeteria in their school holidays.

Children at Risk
Within this project we have been working intensively with over 50 children and their families. The most common problems these children and families face are: poverty, alcoholism, divorce, negligence, abuse and lack of education.
The goals are to (re-) integrate the children in family, society and church. To reach these goals, YFC works in four areas:

    + Contact the kids
    + Build relationships
    + Bring them to the day centre
The day centre
    + Provide love and care
    + Homey atmosphere
    + Food and fun
    + Lessons: Bible, hygiene, skills and crafts
Social work
    + Visiting families and schools
    + Distributing food parcels
    + Strengthening the families
    + Medical help
Camps and special events

Orphanage
YFC supports the work of Mission without Borders in the orphanage of Cupcui, reaching about 70 children with humanitarian aid and the Gospel.

Youth Evangelism
This project aims to encourage and help churches to involve themselves in youth evangelism and discipleship. Young leaders are equipped to set up clubs for unchurched youth.
Conferences and meetings are held for the leaders to be equipped and share experiences. Summer camps have even greater impact on the youth attending the clubs.
