About Ashby Youth for Christ ( Home )

British YFC was started in Britain when evangelist Billy Graham came to our shores in the 1940s. It is part of an international family of YFC ministries in over 120 countries worldwide and has over 50 YFC groups in the United Kingdom running local outreach initiatives.

Ashby Youth for Christ was formed some 20+ years ago and has since seen a great deal of change and, most encouragingly, growth.

At the outset its main aim was to be a group catering for young Christians. As time went on it was realised that the organisation had much more to offer young people not involved in church, and started to be involved in many events catering for them.

More recently it has moved forward: helping in schools in practical ways through teaching on matters such as sex education, drug education, AIDS, the Third World, and Christianity. All this has been done with high-quality presentations from talented and committed Christians with a geniune personal interest in student welfare.

AFYC is now involved with many activities outside of schools: detached and relational work, clubs which provide a positive enviroment for young people, residential trips and outdoor pursuit activities.

As our work continues to expand we put great emphasis on encouraging and training volunteers, both adults and young people, to work alongside the team, and seek ways in which we can work with the communities in our area.
